Natah Bale Villas, Sanur - June 2010

Next stop on our 16 night trip was Sanur.  We stayed at Natah Bale Villas in a 2 bedroom villa.

Welcome drinks on arrival
The villa was set out in typical balinese style pavilions, one for each bedroom & pavilions for the lounge room, kitchen & dining.  Each pavilion was separated by walkways and fish ponds.

What seemed like a good idea having separate bedrooms turned out to be not such a good idea when it came to putting the kids to bed.  We had to lock them in their room, then went to bed worrying that we wouldn't hear them if they needed us in the middle of the night.  So hubby ended up in one room with our son, and I slept in the other with our daughter.

Natah Bale is a small villa complex with one 2 bedroom and approx 4 one bedroom villas, so it was lovely and quiet.  We had the pool to ourselves over our 2 night stay.

At night, the staff would come and light candles & mozzie coils, close the curtains and turn down the beds.
The indoor/outdoor bathrooms were huge and even though the property is now a bit dated, the bathrooms were still quite beautiful.  The kids loved the large egg shaped bath and I loved showering under the stars amongst all tropical foliage.

The open air lounge pavilion was huge with 2 x 2 seater cane lounges, 2 round coffee tables and 2 massive elevated day beds with mozzie nets - the kids liked to untie these and make a cubby house.

The first night for dinner we ate in the villa restaurant which was quite reasonable in price and quite good food too.  We had ordered dinner sent to our private dining pavilion earlier in the evening for our kids and put them in the room with a dvd and strict instructions not to come out of the room until we came to check on them.

While we were waiting for the meal, I went to check on them and found them playing on the day bed under the mozzie netting in the lounge pavilion.  They had snuck out of the room and were having a great time spying on us.  I had visions of them falling into the fish pond, so it was back to the room and off to sleep if they didn't stay in there this time!

The second night we ordered takeaway from Little India.  It was wonderful Indian food and came in little plastic bags, something I'd never seen before.

It was a short walk across the road & down a laneway through to the beach path.  We'd walk along and find somewhere to eat with our feet in the sand....

We loved our visit to Sanur and next time we plan to stay longer.  Next stop on our trip is Nusa Lembongan Island.

Holiday Inn, Tuban - May/June 2010

Our first stop was the Holiday Inn at Tuban where we stayed in a Family Suite for 6 nights. The kids just loved their themed room with a ship's wheel at the end of their bed, beanbags and xbox....

The room had a terrace with daybed

We really loved the pool area - you could always find a sun lounge and it never seemed too crowded. The gazebos were just lovely for chilling out with a good book.

The buffet breakfast was one of the best I'd ever had, so much variety and very fresh. We only ate dinner in the hotel once, preferring to eat at some of our favorite restaurants (Kori, Poppies, TJ's, Poco Loco) and try some new ones as well (Pantai).

Kori Restaurant & Bar

The hotel grounds were really lovely with lots of comfy lounges spread out on the grass and plenty of room for the kids to play

One afternoon we sampled the cocktails from the pool bar whilst sitting on the day beds watching the sunset.  Having not been bothered to return to our room and shower before dinner, we ordered pizza & salad from the Envy Bar that evening which was really good.  The kids had fun playing bongos with the band.

After 6 nights at the Holiday Inn in Tuban, our next stop is Sanur.
